Shandong Paulownia, a locally cultivated specialized variety, sequesters 2.2 tons of carbon per mu annually. Over a 6-8 year growth cycle, a single mu can absorb over 12 tons of carbon dioxide, achieving over 35% higher carbon sequestration efficiency than commonly used European species like spruce and birch. To meet Europe's stringent carbon neutrality requirements, our factory has deepened carbon reduction upgrades at the production source. In processing, we've introduced water-based eco-friendly coatings to replace traditional solvent-based paints, achieving volatile organic compound (VOC) emission concentrations far below EU CE standard limits. Simultaneously, we've adopted a biomass heating system to replace conventional coal-fired boilers, reducing annual carbon emissions by approximately 1,200 tons. In resource utilization, precision cutting and waste recovery technologies have elevated wood utilization to 95%. All remaining scrap is converted into biomass fuel, achieving “zero-waste” emissions.

Leveraging the CCER (China Certified Emission Reduction) trading qualifications from our Paulownia plantation base, our factory is exploring synergistic carbon sink partnerships with European clients. Last year, we offset 800 tons of production-related carbon emissions through carbon sink transactions. Some European clients incorporated this offset volume into their own carbon offset quotas, achieving integrated “product procurement + carbon offset” collaboration.
With the expansion of the European carbon market, the Shandong Paulownia factory plans to further increase low-carbon production capacity. Over the next three years, it aims to reduce the carbon footprint of paulownia products by an additional 15%.
